Nitrogen Surplus Plan

Farmers can calculate their use of nitrogen to give a nitrogen balance per hectare.

Nitrogen Surplus Plan follows a nutrient accounting approach. Farm gate inputs of Nitrogen (e.g. purchased fertiliser, feeds, livestock, imported organic manures) are calculated minus farm gate outputs of Nitrogen (e.g. sales of milk, livestock, manures exported) to give a Nitrogen Balance per hectare figure and Nitrogen Use Efficiency percentage (NUE) for the participating farm.

€250 is provided each time this plan is created.
