Bunded Drain

Bunded drains help to maximise the retention of sediments and plant nutrients within ditches/drains and to create opportunities for infiltration of water into soils. Ditches/drains represent a major pathway for the transport of water, sediment, and plant nutrients from the fields to receiving watercourses. There are opportunities to reduce the effectiveness of this pathway by increasing sedimentation settlement processes and encouraging the growth of plants within the ditch/drain.
